Membership

The Mobile Yacht Club offers a variety of membership opportunities that are described below. The Club requires the completion of a membership application form, which must be obtained by a Club member. Applications can be obtained from the Corresponding Secretary, Bill Haffner at (251) 421-2033 or e-mail wchx@wchxrail.com, or at the Club from Trudy Carlock. Each applicant must be sponsored by three Club members in good standing before being posted for general membership consideration. After the thirty (30) day review period for the general membership has expired, the board will vote on membership acceptance. The first year of membership is provisional.

Certificate of Membership

  • Certificate of Membership ~ All Active Members are required to own a Certificate of Membership in the Mobile Yacht Club, with a few exceptions. These exceptions are:

  • A grandfather clause for those members who joined prior to 1974

  • Members 65 years old, or older, who have been a member for ten years or more

  • Members who previously were Junior Members, have two years in which to obtain a Certificate after becoming an Active Member

Certificates can be purchased either from the Club, from a member, or from an ex-member. By owning a Certificate, you become a 1/400 owner in the Club itself. In the unlikely event of a dissolutionment of the Club those Active and Life Members owning certificates would be entitled to share and share alike in any proceeds that were derived from the dissolutionment.
